NJHA-HBS’ partner, SpectraMedix, presented a webinar on May 9th on “MIPS 2018: Modifications and Reimbursement Exposure”. More than 40 hospitals attended to hear SpectraMedix discuss the recent MACRA MIPS changes enacted in the 2018 Bipartisan Budget Act and also explained the MIPS reporting process as it relates to hospitals.

The SpectraMedix team, headquartered in East Windsor, NJ, gave a use example of a large hospital system with multiple TINS, and described its success in reporting with a preliminary positive payment adjustment plus bonus. The webinar also included an explanation of group reporting by TIN, the consequences of not reporting and how the MIPS program affects hospitalists. Marc Bryant, director of sales, demonstrated how the SpectraMedix MIPS platform operates and the types of reports the company is capable of generating.

While many healthcare professionals believe that MIPS is not likely to be around much longer, CMS Administrator Seema Verma announced in February of this year that the program will continue and that providers need to be aware of their obligations to report.
