NJHA-HBS’s Health Information Services team held a WebEx today on the topic of Coding and Documentation of COVID-19: Understanding and Implementing CDC Guidance. Over 550 professional coders and CDI professionals participated in the WebEx where details of the recent Centers for Disease Control Supplemental coding guidance was reviewed to clarify how COVID-19 should be coded. The importance of accurate ICD-10 coding was stressed since NJHA will be reviewing UB data regularly to identify trends related to the incidence of COVID-19.
